St. Monica Capital Campaign
THE ESTIMATED COST OF THE RENOVATIONS:
The project will add 4,500 square feet of much needed space to the church that will help improve reverence in the sanctuary and provide our parishioners with the needed facilities to serve our parish.
The improvements will address existing issues with our building's foundation and promises to provide new restrooms, a larger sacristy, and Baptismal font for our church. In addition, the electrical service will be upgraded and should provide more effcient service to both the church and the school.
The design for the new expansion will incorporate materials that are durable, aesthetically pleasing, but that are readily available to help control the costs, including plaster stucco walls, clay roof tile, and cantera stone.
All of these details have been closely examined and determined to be important to the overall design of the new church addition. The costs to design, manage, and build this great addition are estimated in the range of $2,100,000 and $2,600,000. As the plans are completed and the Capital Campaign progresses, contractor bids will be sought to identify the actual cost of this project.
WHY NOT BUILD A NEW CHURCH?
The prospect of building a new church on land we currently own was considered and discussed at length by the Parish Council and our Pastor. The reality is that a brand new church would conservatively cost in the neighborhood of $15,000,000 to $20,000,000. In order for St. Monica to pursue this option, the Archdiocese would require us to raise $7,000,000 to $10,000,000 up front. These changes address the most pressing issues of our church and provide us space for years to come.
